Mima & Papa's House - August 6th, 2011

After 5 months, Mima & Papa's house is complete, so we had Ethan give a tour of the house. He saw the house get built from the ground up and was excited about every little step of the process, from the walls, to the doors, and most importantly the toilets... he did NOT want to go back to the house until they had toilets... and now that they have beds and couches and tables and a tv, he was happy to show it all off!

Swim Lessons - August 6th, 2011

Ethan and Becca are LOVING their swim lessons this summer. Both kiddos have always been naturally comfortable in the water... perhaps it has something to do with the enormous swimming pool that I provided for them for 9 months... ;-)

Chris has spent the majority of the time with Becca in her swim lessons. She is a natural little floater and would rather lap up the water with her tongue than blow bubbles, but she's having a great experience with her first parent-child swim class.

Ethan is in his first independent (non-parent) swim class this year. I was a bit nervous about how he would do and if he would be comfortable going with a stranger in the water while I watched from the side. But, as always, he amazed me and went right in with the swim teacher and after his very first lesson he was dunking himsef under the water and after 3 lessons he is (sort of) swimming under water... He was the best in his class last week when they were learning how to float on his back... I am SO proud of how quicky he is picking up the lessons he is being taught and how well he is doing listening and following direction with his swim teacher. He's such a great little guy and makes me proud with every challenge that he faces with seemingly no fear at all.

Why walk when you can climb! - July 24th, 2011

I don't remember Ethan being as much of a climber as Becca is. Leave her alone for a second and she will be at the top of the stairs, up on the table, up on the step-ladder, on top of a laundry basket or a random box... There seems to be nothing that she can't pull herself up onto if she sets her mind to it... With all of the ~~strong-headed~~ determined female genes running through her veins, I really shouldn't be that surprised...

Staying cool - July 24th, 2011

We have had a very warm Summer this year... We attempted to cool off at the neighborhood pool one Sunday, but it was so warm that the pool was like a bathtub... not refreshing at all... so, I decided to break out the inflatable pool and set it up on the deck with some nice cool water from the hose... It did the trick and the kids had a great time!
